At Two Rivers Marketing, our goal is to create ingenious work. (Or at least create really smart work.) To do that, we need healthy minds and bodies — especially right now.

Several workplace wellness programs help Two Rivers associates thrive physically and mentally. Gym membership fee reimbursements, quarterly wellness challenges with incentives, and an Employee Assistance Program are just some examples. But employer wellness programs are only a starting point.

We know our resourceful associates all have their own ways to stay well, so we asked them to share their favorite healthy activities. Here are their top eight wellness tips.

#8: Sleep

It sounds simple, but many of us don’t get enough of this restorative activity. Our associates take time for the rest they need and recommend the same for everyone. Turn off those devices and aim for eight hours of sleep a night.

#7: Yoga

Never tried it? Beginner classes are available online. Several Two Rivers associates enjoy yoga’s flexibility and mood-improvement benefits at home and find it helps them stay focused during the workday.

#6: Socializing

It’s different in this age of COVID-19, but we adapt. “Surround yourself with good people who will be there when you need them,” suggests Project Manager Ethan Day. “Having awesome friends and family can make a huge difference in well-being.” Scheduling regular video calls with friends and family can help, too.

#5: Meditation and introspection

Many Two Rivers associates meditate, keep a gratitude journal, and get in touch with their feelings to improve their moods. Assistant Media Planner/Buyer Liz Smith recommends “really sitting in each emotion and feeling to examine where it comes from.” Look online for videos to guide you or download a meditation app.

#4: Staying active

“Just get a little daily exercise, doesn't matter what it is,” says Senior Account Director Patrick Baker. Not sure where to start? Patrick points you to an online resource with more than 1,500 illustrated workouts, many of which can be completed in under 20 minutes.

#3: Self-care

Whether it’s doing puzzles or doing your nails — you do you, boo! “I love to paint and draw, so I make ‘art time’ a priority,” says Strategic Communications Coordinator Rena Sletten. “Not only does it help reduce stress, but it also gives me something to look forward to.”

#2: Reading

We all spend much of our day reading words on a screen because we have to. Many Two Rivers associates suggest taking time to read because you want to. “Read before bed,” says Senior Digital Strategist Anna Leavenworth. “Yes, the paper kind. Take a break from the blue light!”

#1: Hydration

Your body is about 60% water. Our Two Rivers team wants you to keep it that way. “For every cup of coffee I drink in the morning, I drink a glass of water, too,” says Social Media Specialist Derek Steffen.
